BLOG WEEK 6 Post 2- first Photos taken

This weekend, I went to my friend’s house and picked out outfits for her to wear. She volunteered to be one of my models, so we took photos around her house, looking for areas with clean, empty backgrounds. I experimented with different angles to capture a variety of shots, playing with lighting to create different moods. We also made use of natural light coming through the windows and adjusted poses to highlight the outfits. It was a fun, creative experience, and I loved how the simple backgrounds allowed the clothes and her expressions to stand out even more.

#1 OUTFIT

Outfit #1
Top: Holister
Bottom: Edikted Jeans

I really love this outfit in particular because it creates a beautiful contrast with her skin, especially since she tanned earlier in the day. The soft, pastel colors she's wearing—light blue and light yellow—blend well with her complexion, making the overall look feel fresh and vibrant. The colors pop against her sun-kissed skin, adding depth and balance to the photo. I also appreciate the angle of the shot, where the natural light coming through the window softly hits her body and face, highlighting the subtle details of the outfit while giving her a glowing, almost ethereal look. This combination of lighting and styling really brings out the clean, minimalistic aesthetic I was aiming for, allowing the focus to stay on the beauty of both the model and the clothing.

#2 OUTFIT

I really enjoyed this outfit as well because, in my opinion, it flatters her body in all the right ways. The way the floral pattern on the shirt adds a soft, playful touch gives it a fun, summery vibe. The jean skirt is a perfect choice for my target audience, as jean skirts have made a strong comeback among young teenage girls. This choice of clothing feels both modern and timeless, tapping into a trend that’s relatable to them. What I love most is how the outfit stays simple and effortless but still stands out with its subtle flair. The combination of the floral print and the classic jean skirt creates a look that’s both stylish and easy to wear, offering a fresh, youthful vibe. It’s the perfect balance of casual comfort and trendy style, making it highly appealing to my audience.

#OUTFIT 3

I really love this outfit because it's incredibly versatile, offering both style and comfort. The contrast between black and white in the outfit really makes it stand out, while also helping to accentuate her tan, as we discussed earlier. The black jeans sit just below the waistline, allowing her belly button ring to peek through, which adds a subtle yet bold detail to the overall aesthetic. I especially love the white top, with its delicate bow that acts as a beautiful accessory. The bow adds a playful, feminine touch to the outfit, balancing out the edgier feel of the black jeans. The simplicity of the colors, paired with these thoughtful details, creates a clean yet stylish look that feels both modern and timeless.
OUTFIT #4

I absolutely love this outfit because the combination of the striped pants and the white lace crocheted top creates a charming and effortless look. The delicate texture of the crochet adds a touch of femininity, while the flowy striped pants bring a relaxed, breezy feel that perfectly captures the essence of a beachy getaway. The light, airy fabrics make it ideal for warm weather, enhancing both comfort and style. What makes this outfit truly special is how well it embodies the summer aesthetic, setting it apart from the others with its unique blend of casual elegance and coastal charm.

OUTFIT #5

The outfit embodies the iconic 2000s aesthetic with its low-rise jeans, baby tee, and chunky accessories, all of which were staples of Y2K fashion. The playful mix of bright colors, rhinestone embellishments, and nostalgic elements like butterfly clips or mini handbags instantly transport wearers back to the early 2000s pop culture era, which has recently made a huge comeback.

BLOG WEEK 6 POST 2- Lighting research

Lighting in a fashion photoshoot is important for creating the right atmosphere, bringing out textures, and improving the overall look of the pictures. Different types of lighting produce other effects that change how the clothes and models appear. Soft lighting, like natural light on a cloudy day or light from a softbox, helps to reduce harsh shadows and creates a smooth, flattering look that makes the model’s features and fabric details stand out. Colored gels or tinted lights can create artistic effects, setting a specific mood or theme for the shoot. Choosing the right lighting is essential for achieving the desired aesthetic, whether it's a bright and airy editorial or a moody, high-fashion campaign.

This photo is a great example of soft lighting while still capturing the details of her shirt and jeans. Her body remains sharp, while her face has a softer look, creating a nice contrast. I really like this effect because it enhances the photo, giving her a more angelic and polished appearance compared to if her face were sharply defined. The lighting is focused on both her body and face, adding to the overall aesthetic.

Location- WK 5 POST 2

 1) Loxahatchee, Florida

I am considering using Loxahatchee as my location for my magazine photo shoot location because I really enjoy the nature in this park. I really like the way that the sunset hits the grass and how it can reflect with the lake, and I think that if I have my friends who I'm using as my models for my magazine, where I wear really vibrant outfits, it will help bring out the colors from the nature.

2) Deerfield Beach

I really would like to use Deerfield Beach as one of my locations for my magazine, whether be for the cover page or for my two-page spread, because a lot of the inspiration that I get from the outfits that my models will be using is very Florida beach aesthetic, so I think that this location would fit my magazine perfectly and if there is a prettier sky, it will make it even better.

Masthead- WK 5 BLOG 1

For my masthead, I decided to go with "Her Era" instead of "Sunkissed and Sleek." I felt that "Sunkissed and Sleek" would take up too much space and might overwhelm the cover. I think the full phrase could work better as a subtitle for my 2-page spread. Magazines like VOGUE and ELLE often use fonts like 'Didot' and 'Bodoni,' which give a formal yet minimalist vibe that doesn’t overcrowd the cover.

I want to stay within the trends of mastheads in terms of a simple font. I am leaning towards Bell MT because it is thinner compared to Gurmukhi MT, and I feel like that would reflect the aesthetic of my blog better. Usually, the mastheads in other magazines tend to be a bit generic, but I would spice up this font depending on the elements and theme of my cover page.

I prefer this font when the letters are spaced out, so I added a space between each one to give it a cleaner, more polished look. I really like how this font brings out the personality of my cover page, and the italics in the second font add a nice touch. The thicker lines also make it stand out more compared to the top two fonts. I really love these two fonts and will have to choose between them for my masthead. The other two fonts feel more suited for a subtitle.

I’d say this font feels modern and fits well with the current "aesthetic." The long, slender letters give it an elegant touch, while the blocky style keeps it looking fresh and contemporary. I think it looks best in color, but I won’t choose a specific one—or even black—until I take cover photos and decide on a color scheme. However, I believe a solid color wouldn’t distract too much from the content on the cover.

Costume Designing WK 4 POST 3

Clothing

In Fashion and lifestyle magazines such as Vogue, etc., commonly seen are women wearing professional/formal attire and specific outfits with different themes, from traditional to bright colors. The clothing worn by the model usually compliments the color scheme of the cover and can add life to the cover pages. I think for my magazine, dressing in a majority of formal clothing will make the magazine seem too formal and rigid when my magazine is trying to emulate a very bright, youthful look. I probably won't incorporate some aspects of formal clothing into my models, but I think I will go for more a casual and trendy look.

I want my models to wear more useful clothing, such as low-rise jeans, long tank tops, and fitted crop tube tops. I want my models to accentuate and exemplify the 21st-century trends in teenagers in 2025. Accessories I would want my models to display would be dainty jewelry for example. I want to incorporate different color themes, such as bright and vibrant and other combinations. I really like the look of light pink, light blue, and light yellow colors, I think it brings out the warmth in the skin and compliments very well with sunlight if the photo shoot is taken at sunset. Patterns mixed with white/bright colors and pastels also give a sunkissed look. I want my models to have a range of dresses, tops, skirts, etc. mixed and matched together.

Hair
For my magazine, I want to use youthful hairstyles to create a cute and visually appealing look on camera. Styles like loose curls, braided pigtails, space buns, and half-up ponytails will add a fun and effortless touch, perfectly matching the magazine’s feminine and youthful theme. These hairstyles will not only highlight the models' features but also add movement and depth to the photos, making them feel more natural and lively. To enhance the overall aesthetic, I’ll incorporate trendy hair accessories such as pastel-colored clips and ribbons. By choosing these styles, I hope to give the magazine a fresh, stylish, and charming look.

Jewelry
For my magazine, I want to use simple jewelry pieces that don’t distract from the models but instead enhance their overall look. I will primarily choose dainty jewelry, as it adds a delicate touch that complements the outfits without being overpowering. I’m particularly drawn to gold jewelry because it conveys a sense of status and luxury while also helping to warm up the complexion, giving the models a naturally sun-kissed and radiant appearance.

Makeup
For my magazine photoshoot, I plan to have my models wear sun-kissed and clean girl makeup to enhance their natural beauty and add to the youthful, fresh aesthetic of the magazine. The sun-kissed makeup look will feature warm, glowy tones with bronzed cheeks, soft peachy blush, and a dewy highlight to create the effect of naturally radiant skin. This will give the models a healthy, luminous glow, making them appear effortlessly vibrant. The clean girl makeup look, with its minimal and polished approach, will focus on fresh, hydrated skin, feathered brows, subtle mascara, and a hint of gloss for a naturally flawless finish. Together, these makeup styles will enhance the soft, youthful, and effortlessly chic vibe of the magazine, making the models look radiant and timeless on camera.

The first reason why is because Abby is my friend who has very similar intrests as me reffering to the clothes she wears, the makeup that she usess, and she obtains alot of the acsessories that I want my models to display for my magazine. She would not have to audtion for my magazine because my magaizine doesn't require her to truly have certain requirements. The look that I'm going for is displayed right above me, she is wearing very floral and girly clothing, which I would want all the girls for the cover photos to have on. She is also a very pretty girl and the "look" that I'm going for is very young and bright, girly girls. She has modeled before so this gives her more experience. I would want her to pose with the other 3 girls for my cover page and I would want them all to be a more in the moment photo, and I will display an example of what I am reffering to at the bottom of this page.

MODEL #2

She would not have to audtion for my magazine because my magaizine doesn't require her to truly have certain requirements. I chose her because she contains the look that I am going for as well as Abby, she has similar but more pastel clothing such as Brandy Meville clothing that uses very neautral or pastel colored clothes. Lilia also keeps up with the trends as well, so she obtains alot of the acsessories that I want my models to display for my magazine.

MODEL #3

Name: Natalie Manger

Background: I chose Natalie to be a model for magazine for a number of reasons. The first reason why is because Natalie is my friend who has very similar intrests as me reffering to the clothes she wears, the makeup that she usess, and she obtains alot of the acsessories that I want my models to display for my magazine. She would not have to audtion for my magazine because my magaizine doesn't require her to truly have certain requirements. I chose her because she contains the look that I am going for as well as Lilia , she has similar but more white, iridescent clothing such as Brandy Meville clothing that uses very neautral or pastel colored clothes. Natalie also keeps up with the trends as well, so she obtains alot of the acsessories that I want my models to display for my magazine. I am trying to collect as much blondes models as much as I can because I feel as though blondes give a cleaner and aesthtic look to the magazine.

MODEL #4

Name: Celina Grindey
Age: 17
Background: I chose Celina to be a model for my magazine for several reasons. First, she is a close friend who shares many of my interests, especially when it comes to fashion and makeup. Her style closely aligns with the aesthetic I want for my magazine, and she already owns many of the accessories I want my models to showcase. Unlike traditional modeling gigs, my magazine doesn’t have strict requirements, so Celina didn’t need to audition. She naturally fits the look I’m going for. Similarly, The other models also have similar style's that complements my vision, but with a softer, more pastel-inspired wardrobe, including brands like Brandy Melville or Edikte.  Celina also stays up to date with the latest fashion trends, making her a great fit for my magazine’s aesthetic. Her ability to effortlessly incorporate trendy accessories into her looks is why she’s the perfect choice for this role.

MODEL #5

Name: Charlee
Age: 15
Background: I chose Charlee to be a model for my magazine for several reasons. First, she is a close friend who shares many of my interests, particularly in fashion and makeup. Her style aligns perfectly with the aesthetic I want for my magazine, and she already owns many of the accessories I want my models showcasing. Since my magazine doesn’t have strict modeling requirements, Charlee didn’t need to audition—she naturally fits the look I’m going for. In the image above, she is wearing floral and feminine clothing, which is exactly the style I want all the girls on the cover to wear. The overall theme I’m aiming for is bright, youthful, and ultra-feminine. Charlee has previous modeling experience, which makes her an even better fit for the role. I plan to have her pose alongside three other girls for the cover photo, creating a natural "in-the-moment" shot rather than a stiff, posed look.

Here are some example photos of the poses I want Model #1, 2, 3, and 5 doing for my magazine two page spread as well as some cut out photos as such:

Here are some exmaple photos that I would want Model #4 to do for my cover page:

Colors Scheme/ Color Research WK 4 POST 1

For color, I really wanted to incorporate pastel and bright colors as much as possible. I already have a feel of what colors I would like based on my research from my earlier blog posts including different shades of pink as well as pastel colors like purple, yellow, and light blue. I want this magazine to showcase beauty and femininity through my use of colors that appeal to girls. Beauty, fashion, and lifestyle magazines that are designated for women are supposed to have a softer feel to them especially because the target audience is younger than older women. That's why this magazine is going to stand out.

I designed this color palate because at first, I was going to go for a more bright, vibrant, and summery feel to the magazine.  When I did my survey many people wanted to see light, pink, and white as my theme colors. However, I  really like this palate. The reason why I'm showing it is because I definitely want to incorporate a beach but also a clean girl feel to the two-page spread using these colors whether as borders or something for the outline of the text in the magazine. The hot pink is pretty but too vibrant and bold for the magazine. I definitely want to use a lighter pink. The orange is also too vibrant and the yellow named Sunshine gives a mustard color, maybe I will switch to a more pastel yellow than that shade of yellow. I feel like the bright colors would be useful for magazine details such as the masthead, or the subtitles.

I really like this color palette. Still have the different shades of yellow and pink which I love. There is also light green and purple which is what I wanted to include. I added a different shade of pink because I think various shades can switch up the mood of the text or page. They're opposite but can add some contrast and brightness to the magazine which I like a lot.

This color palette really stands out to me. It's very visually pleasing to see the mixture of these shades combined with one another. I really enjoy the wide variety of pink, the different shades of pink blend with one another really nicely. I think that my target audience which is mainly teenage girls, would really appreciate the pinkish color scheme. The pops of color like the hot pink, and blueish-green could be used for my masthead or subtitles to add some contrast to the cover page as well as my 2-page spread. This color palette would appeal to teenage girls in all seasons throughout the year, I feel as though these colors could be used in the Summer and Winter time. I think that the color weekend could be used for my masthead.

Magazines targeting teenage girls often use a combination of colors to attract their audience. Here are some common choices and why they might be effective Pastel colors evoke a sense of youthfulness, fun, and playfulness, which can resonate with teenage girls. Think pinks, purples, light blues, and yellows. These bright and vibrant colors can convey energy, confidence, and excitement, appealing to the adventurous spirit of teenagers including bright reds, oranges, and electric blues.
