For this week's assignment, I had to create a survey for my magazine's content and send it out to people. My teacher asked for about 50 responses, but I managed to get 56, which I think is still a good number to work with for analysis. The survey included a mix of questions about what people would like to see in my magazine, and some of the answers really surprised me because they were so varied. A lot of respondents also had trouble picking answers because they hadn't really thought about what they specifically enjoyed in magazines.
For what I should title my magazine, you can see there was a clear answer to what the audience's favorite name was for my magazine which was "Sunkissed and Sleek" at 47.7%. To be honest, that was also my favorite name because it's unique and it highlights the aesthetic that my magazine consists of. The second most chosen name was "Her Era" at 20.4%, I really like this name because it is very in trend with a saying on social media referencing the new era that is the IT girl. So I will probably choose Sunkissed and Sleek or Her Era for my magazine.
For what I should my cover image be for my magazine, you can see there was a clear answer to what the audience's favorite name was for my magazine, which was a picture of a young girl wearing a trendy outfit at 35.2%. To be honest, that was also my favorite concept for a cover image because my target audience is young adults and teenage girls, and having a young girl wearing a trendy outfit will draw in more readers. The second most chosen option was a group photo of girls wearing trendy outfits at a tie with the first presented option., I really like this cover image idea because it gives me more creativity to add a wide variety of trendy outfits that could draw a diverse target audience than if I only had one girl in the cover image.

For what I should make two spreads, you can see there was an almost even answer to what the audience's favorite idea was which is fashion trends such as outfit inspirations, outfit do's and don'ts, and places to shop. To be honest, I was extremely stuck on what I should focus mainly on for the two-page spread and I was quite frankly surprised that people chose the fashion trends idea. The second most chosen idea is clean girl trends, such as what products to buy and what to do to become more of a clean girl. I will have to really think about what I would want this magazine to entail.
For what features should be in the magazine, the most popular option was ads for beauty, fashion, and skincare products. I was not surprised by this decision because I feel that young girls and boys are always trying to get advice from either social media or articles that talk about what they believe are good products that are currently trending. The second most popular option was the photo colleges, and I think I definitely want to incorporate something with photos for my two-page spread.
For the color scheme, the most popular options were really caught in an almost even tie with all of them being in the same range from 20 to 26%. The most popular options for my color scheme were light pink, pink, and white. I was thinking of including pastel colors instead of vibrant colors which in my opinion takes away from the aesthetic I'm trying to emulate. I will include some photos in reference to the color scheme I'm talking about.
For the background, I should use for my photo shoot, the most popular option was a beach at sunset. This decision did not surprise me in the slightest due to the simple fact that I live in South Florida, and all of my responses are from friends and family who live in the South Florida area, which gives me the idea that they will end up choosing the beach at sunset. Although the target audience believes that the beach is the best option, I am still deciding whether the sunset at Loxahaectte which is an area in the west that has the Everglades surrounding it.
This question showed me that my magazine will mostly appeal to people between 15-18 years old. However, it will also appeal to people between 19-25 as they were also a good part of the audience. The additional percentages were people between 26-31 years old and 32 and over. This implies that my magazine might not be exactly their taste as I wasn't able to collect more responses from those age ranges, so I don't have enough information to declare whether or not they would like my magazine.
